Which doubles should I take first when skeet shooting?
SKEET SHOOTING
John Bidwell
Unless the targets are wind affected, as a right-handed Shot I would shoot the L-R High House bird first because when I change direction for the second target I will have the advantage of the stock coming into my face, not away from it.
However, things aren’t quite so straightforward in Sporting.
If the targets are at different distances then I usually take the farthest first because it might be too far away for the second shot.
If one target is lower than the other I would go for that one first just in case it falls too quickly for the second barrel.
Another reason for taking the lower one first is because it is much easier to bring the muzzles up to acquire a target (in this case the higher of the two) than it is to drop the muzzles down on one.
