What’s better about shooting with a long barrelled gun?
CLAY SHOOTING
John Bidwell
You should shoot whatever you feel comfortable with and able to handle without feeling strained.
Long barrelled guns, naturally, tend to be a little heavier than the rest but if you can live with that, then you might also enjoy the qualities they bring to the party, namely, improved pointability and a steadier swing, especially on longer targets.
The downside is that if you’re stepping up from a much shorter gun then it might take a while to get used to the different sight pictures you’ve become accustomed to while game or clay shooting.
In fact it can take some people quite a long time to make the change successfully, so be prepared to persevere and give the longer gun a fair chance before writing it off as being unsuitable.
