Should I decoy these trees for better pigeon shooting?
I’ve tried shooting them in the past by placing decoys on the ground, but this hasn’t really worked.
Is this one of those situations where I need to buy a lofting pole and get some deeks in the trees?
I would appreciate any advice you can give.
PIGEON SHOOTING
Peter Theobald
There are occasions where you can get a shoot at pigeons coming to feed on nuts and berries with acorns, hawthorn and ivy berries, being the most popular.
Clearly, what arriving birds expect to see are their pals sitting in the trees, and not on the ground.
To this end, lofted decoys will certainly persuade passing woodies that your tree contains the best berries in the district.
As ever when lofting decoys, make absolutely sure there are no power lines overhead otherwise it won’t be just pigeons.
