Best dog whistle

People have whistled for their dogs as long as humans and canines have lived together. No other signal travels as far or can be heard as clearly. Unless you can produce an ear-splitting whistle with your fingers, a good dog whistle is invaluable for giving your dog commands at a distance.

This is particularly vital for gun dogs who can be controlled to turn or stop when you are out in the field. But it’s also useful for pet dogs to train them to stop or to recall them. Good dog whistles have a consistent sound that carries well. A dog’s hearing is more sensitive than ours and you don’t need to buy a silent whistle unless you don’t want to hear it. Whistles also need to be durable and strong enough to be dropped, stood on and washed out when they get muddy. If you do lose a whistle, you will want to be able to get an identical replacement as your dog will respond to that frequency and tone. It’s worth remembering if your dog is unresponsive to your commands, a dog whistle gives you a fresh opportunity to train them from scratch again.
