Your hearing is precious. Once it’s damaged there is no way to restore it. So you owe it to yourself, both now and in the future when long-term harm will become evident, to protect it with a good pair of ear defenders. Consistent exposure to sounds above 95 decibels (dB) can be harmful and anything over 120dB can cause permanent damage in seconds. With some gunshots registering 160dB, if you enjoy a sport as loud as shooting, good ear defenders are essential. As well as deafness, exposure to loud sounds can cause tinnitus, a harrowing condition that gives you constant ringing in the ears.
