Interview with Sir Ian Botham
The former first class cricketer is a passionate game shot and fisherman. Here he shares what he enjoys most about shooting and fishing, what changes he'd make at the RSPB and why the You Forgot the Birds campaign still has much work to do
What dog do you have?
My companion is my Jack Russell, Pinot, named after the wine. He goes everywhere with me when I’m shooting. He also retrieves, and when I go fishing he dives into the net when I try and land a sea trout; he’s part and parcel of the package.
Is there a particularly memorable shooting day?
I really can’t say that one day in particular stands out. One of the great things for me about shooting is that I’m either shooting with friends who I shoot with regularly or I’m meeting new people. Both appeal to me and I very much enjoy that aspect of each day.
