Prestigious international gundog test returns to Chatsworth
Gundog test.
The beautiful estate will play host to hundreds of working dogs who will be showing off their skills at the five day event, sponsored by Judges Choice, Lintran, and Sporting Saint.
The event, the most prestigious on the working dog calendar, will include the Novice and Open Hunt, Point Retrieve and Open and Novice Spaniel and Retriever tests, and will see the future stars of the gundog world, both human and canine, battle it out in the Young Handlers test.
The 2013 event will again see the exciting International Team test, bringing teams from a number of countries to compete, following the inaugural competition in 2012 which saw seven international teams taking part.
In addition, the event will see a special Gundog Training Day for novice handlers, aimed at owners of Retrievers and Spaniels who wish to learn basic gundog training skills.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: ?The Kennel Club Gundog Working Test at Chatsworth is the most exciting and prestigious event of the year for those involved in working gundogs. The huge success of the 2012 event shows just how popular the sport is among gundog owners and we are expecting it to be equally impressive in 2013.
?
?The event is fabulous in allowing gundogs and their owners or handlers to demonstrate the dogs? natural working abilities; putting their instincts to good use against some of the most talented dogs of their kind in the world.
?
?The international flavour of the event will be strong again next year, and we are looking forward to welcoming competitors from a number of different countries to take part.?
Gundog Working Tests are designed to further good, sound gundog work and encourage dogs’ natural working ability. Work is done with dummies, and these friendly competitions are a natural extension of the training competitors will already be doing with their dogs.
Gundog Working Tests are designed to suit the different working abilities of three of the Gundog sub-groups: Spaniels, Retrievers and Hunt, Point and Retrieve breeds.
