10 of the best. Our round-up of game fair fashion

With major events like the CLA Game Fair fast approaching, you're going to want to look the part when you step out. We've compiled some fashion ideas for men with no tweed or breeks in sight.

A game fair has its own dress code. Not scruffy, not formal. Just in between. We’ve picked out a number of pieces that not only look the part but will also come in useful long after the game fair season has ended.

Wearing a collar just adds that extra finish – and a polo shirt is a good compromise between a T-shirt and a more formal shirt. If you do want to wear a shirt though and like a check pattern, then choose summer shades. Colours in summer should be light and bright and this shirt by Barbour hits the right  notes. The British summer can of course have a hint of chill about it – particularly early and late in the day and you don’t want your enjoyment of a game fair spoilt by the shivers. A fleece gilet is the perfect extra layer. You don’t want to squint in the sun either – so pick up a pair of sunglasses that will do double duty for shooting or shelter a sensitive pate under a smart Panama hat.

A pair of well cut shorts in a classic mustard or chinos (in a classic hue) always flatter the wearer. Oh, and for walking around a game fair you need to make sure your feet are comfortable so you might like to slip into a pair of boat shoes, if you want to be less formal than brogues.
