Women’s team win world title
British championship women shooters are making their presence known on the world stage
Britain has won the world FITASC ladies championship, held in Minnesota, US, with a score of 493.
This put the team of Rebecca McKenzie, Lucy Pitt and Cheryl Hall three ahead of nearest rivals, the US, and 25 ahead of France.
Cheryl later went on to complete the double by winning the ladies individual world championship, scoring 182.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Hannah Pugsley won her second silver medal at the European Shooting Championships in Slovenia (News, 5 August. This time she set a British record 577 in the 300m three-position rifle event. The gold was won by Germany’s Lisa Muller.
